Step 1:

Wipe wall with the clean, damp cloth; lay down the drop cloth; affix the painter's tape to trim, molding and ceiling.

Step 2:

Apply base color to walls just inside taped areas with the angled brush and the woven roller; remove painter's tape while paint is still damp; allow paint to dry 24 hours.

Step 3:

Measure the width of your bed and add at least 12 inches; plan the placement of the painted headboard on the wall, using a pencil to mark the center near the baseboard.

Step 4:

Divide the total measurement from Step 3 in half; starting from the center, use the halved measurement and make marks near the baseboard to the right and left.

Step 5:

Determine how high you'd like the headboard, then, with the level and pencil, create a horizontal line that extends to both baseboard marks; using the level, extend vertical lines up from the baseboard to the horizontal line; affix painter's tape to the outside of both the vertical and horizontal lines.

Step 6:

Use the angled brush to apply the headboard color just inside the taped area, then paint remaining area with the woven roller; remove painter's tape while paint is still damp; allow paint to dry 24 hours.

Step 7:

Determine placement and width of border; using the level and pencil, lightly draw vertical and horizontal lines to create the outline of the accent border; affix painter's tape just outside the horizontal and vertical lines.

Step 8:

Depending on the accent-border thickness, use the angled brush or mini roller to paint the accent color inside the taped area; remove painter's tape while paint is still damp; allow paint to dry, following suggested drying time on the can label.
